Born in the District of Columbia on January 15, 1991, Akeem Raemon Adams was raised in Maryland and Tennessee. born the eldest of five children, adams was raised by his parents and late Grandmother, ms. Edith vernell Ampey. He was heavily influenced by the jubilant voices of The World's Greatest Gospel Singer, the late Mahalia Jackson, and the First Lady of Gospel, Shirley Caesar, along with the rich, organic shouts and praises of the Traditional Black Church. He was also influenced by situation comedies steming from Desilu (I Love Lucy) to legendary producer Norman Lear (The Jeffersons, Maude, All In The Family).

 

 In 1993, Adams became forever rooted and founded his greatest inspiration at the Historic Metropolitan Baptist Church (formerly of Washington, D.C.), under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr. At Metropolitan, he would sing in the Cherub Choir, Holliman's Youth Choir, The Young Adult Fellowship Ensemble (YAFE), Chorus Choir, historic Senior Choir, mighty men ensemble and The Voices of Metropolitan (Tri-M).

 

In his early teenage years, his repertoire grew and Adams was exposed to the world of pop, r&b, rock 'n' roll, neo-soul, blues, jazz, sacred and Classical music. In the Fall of 2011, he began his studies of Voice under the direction of Legendary Soprano, Dr. Marymal Holmes, at Bowie State University, located in Bowie, Maryland. At Bowie, he would sing in the University Chorale, Gospel Choir, and Madrigal Singers. it was at bowie that he expressed an interest in opera upon the introduction of art songs and ballads. adams graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Musical Theatre in the spring of 2017. His rich bass-baritone voice has permitted him to perform in numerous choirs and in some of the most world renowned concert halls in the greater Metropolitan area, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His musical repertiore includes Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria in D Major, Requiem by Gabriel Faure, and Shubert's Mass in G.

ADAMS RECENTLY MADE HIS PROFESSIONAL OPERA APPEARANCE AS A MEMBER OF THE CHORUS OF W.A. MOZART'S "LA CLEMENZA DI TITO" ALONG WITH THE HAVANA LYCEUM ORCHESTRA. ''LA CLEMENZA" WAS THE FIRST ALL CUBAN OPERA TO BE PRESENTED AT THE JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
